Mr. Dozat’s insight for this issue of BIBLE TIME FUN!
I am excited and grateful to share this issue with you. It has many beautiful Scriptures; some are of God’s presence, and a few are about God’s Word and other topics, too.
I started by spending three hours looking up verses and finding translations that would be appropriate for children. There are many great verses in this issue. Some are old favorites, and a few are ones that we rush over. I am excited to think that the Holy Spirit will use these in the hearts of children and families.
I am trying something different on this issue. One of the coloring pictures is a hidden picture puzzle. I have hidden some of the letters of the featured Scripture on a jumble of shapes and random letters. I wanted to create an activity like this for some time. I struggled to find a repeatable formula for future issues. I think this will work. Let me know how you like it.
The verses for the activities:
- Word search #1 — 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
- Coloring page — 1 James 1:22.
- Scrambler — Romans 8:1.
- The Explorer’s Challenge — 1 Timothy 1:15.
- Crossword puzzle — Psalm 19:1.
- Shape sort puzzle — Isaiah 55:10-11.
- Codebreaker — Jeremiah 33:3 ESV.
- Word search #2 — 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
- Coloring page — Habakkuk 3:19a.
- Hidden pictures — 2 Chronicles 16:11.
- Maze — Psalm 40:8.
- Letter drop puzzle — Isaiah 55:9.
- Memory verse — 1 John 4:19.
You can see what exciting Scriptures are in this issue. Some of these verses challenge us, and others give comfort.
Discussion questions
A question accompanies most of the activities to help facilitate discussion. I pray that as these bulletins are sent home after VBS or children’s church, un-churched family members will be challenged by God’s Word, which will not return void.
Remember, you can share these with kids who came to your VBS or Backyard Bible Club. Each week, print them out and mail them to the absentees with a note. You can give them out after club as a take-home for that night or use them as an alternative to craft time or game time.
