SILVER SPRING, Md.—Over 200 Asian Baptists from BCM/D churches, representing 11 people groups met for the annual Asian Concert of Prayer at Hahnuri Baptist Church on Sept. 9, 2012.
Montgomery Association Director of Missions Ron Blankenship shared the opening devotion and Higher Connection and Agape Baptist Church praise teams ministered in music.
Pastors led sessions of prayer specifically focused on their people groups. The fervent prayers got progressively louder and more passionate as the evening progressed. Some people cried out with hands in the air. Others were on their knees and some prayed silently.
“While we prayed on a diversity of prayer topics, the major focused topic was to pray for the salvation, disciple-making and church planting ministry of each participating people group,” Robert Kim, missionary for Asian people groups, explained.
There was a specific prayer time for new planters from among the Chinese, Vietnamese and Burmese people groups.
“Through this prayer event, we desire to spur a wave of prayer movement among our churches in our convention…Every one at that event encouraged each other in prayer…while calling to Him together regardless of the different languages,” Kim said.
