Sharon Mager serves with the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware as a communications specialist and BaptistLIFE correspondent. She writes articles and feature stories for the quarterly BaptistLIFE magazine and blog, and assists in the management of social media in an effort to share what God is doing in the life of His church.
In addition to her work with the convention, she works as a freelancer with local community news agencies, including what she considers as a “sweet gig” as a restaurant reviewer. She has written for Baptist Press, several Baptist associations, and has been published in Christianity Today. Prior to working for the BCM/D, she wrote a community news column for the Maryland Gazette.
She has served in churches in the areas of music and worship, children’s ministries, Sunday school, administration and communications.
Sharon also plays the flute and sings in “Stauros Alive,” a band affiliated with Stauros Ministries, a ministry to those struggling with addictions and their families.
She and her husband, Barry, have been married since 1981 and have three grown children, Michael, Shelley and Steven, and three grandchildren.
In her spare time, Sharon enjoys reading mysteries, playing music and bowling.
