Transformers is a line of toys centered on two factions of warring alien robots which are called the Autobots and the Decepticons. Electrical transformers are used to “transform” voltage from one level to another, usually from a higher voltage to a lower voltage. There are various definitions of the word transformer but the thread running through all of them is “change agent.” Transformers affect their surroundings. Their environment is aware of their presence. The Bible tells us that one of the highest, ultimate goals that God has in store for each one of us is our transformation in Him. In Romans 12:2, we read these words: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” The question for us as followers of Christ and as His church is this, Are we being transformed? Are we actively engaged in the transformation of people and communities?
Horizons is a place where you will be challenged to look at your church, at ministries you lead, at yourself as transformers. In this one-day conference, you will have opportunities to meet and dialogue with others like you who are serving Christ in His church and desire to transform the renewing of your mind. Horizons has changed and its purpose is to help you and your church in being transformational agents in your worlds. The goal of Horizons is to see the number of people being the church in their neighborhoods, schools, cafes, and communities seven days a week outnumber the number of casual Christians just going to church.
Come to Horizons where you will hear stories of people “being” the church at every opportunity.
