COLUMBIA, Md. — The Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware is pleased to offer “Prayer Boot Camp – Basic Training for a Life of Prayer,” and “Prayer Essentials.” Nationally known author Claude King, who serves as a discipleship and church health specialist at LifeWay Christian Resources, will facilitate the events. King is also the author or co-author of several books including, “Experiencing God,” “Come to the Lord’s Table,” “Fresh Encounter, Growing Disciples, Meet Jesus Christ,” and “The Mind of Christ” (workbook).
The one-day Prayer Boot Camp provides basic training in prayer and introduces the weapons of spiritual warfare—not just learning about prayer, but rather learning to pray by praying together. The content is based on “The Battle Plan for Prayer,” by Stephen and Alex Kendrick, developers of the popular film “War Room.”
Participants will receive several resources:
- A copy of “The Battle Plan for Prayer”
- Reproducible handouts including a learning map that is part of the event
- A leader guide, including scripts for leading a variety of prayer experiences with optional PowerPoint slides
- A copy of “40 Days of Prayer for Church Revitalization”
- Multiple prayer experiences throughout the day
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
The cost is $5 for BCM/D contributing churches or $10 for BCM/D non-contributing churches.
“The “Prayer Boot Camp” is offered from 9-4 p.m. on May 14 at Grace Church Seaford, in Delaware, and on May 16 at Skycroft Conference Center in Middletown, Maryland.
King will also facilitate “Prayer Essentials,” a flexible prayer experience to provide an overview of a “Prayer Boot Camp” that participants might want to investigate for their churches. There will also be select prayer experiences throughout the session. The primary audience for the essentials is pastors, pastoral staff with prayer ministry assignments, and prayer ministry leaders and teams. Each participant will receive a copy of “The Battle Plan for Prayer.” Also, the BCM/D will gift each participant with a copy of, “40 Days of Prayer for Church Revitalization”
Prayer Essentials will be offered from 9- 11:30 am at the BCM/D offices, in Columbia, Maryland, and on May 15 from 1:30-4 p.m. at Dunkirk Baptist Church, in Maryland. There is no charge.
