

Living Free Opioid Crisis Parent Seminar
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. — Bethany Church in Ellicott City, Md., will host a “Living Free” Opioid Crisis Parent Seminar on May 19, 2018, from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The seminar seeks to provide information, resources, support and encouragement for those concerned about the impact of drug use among our youth. Parents will have the opportunity to hear from special speakers on the topic followed by Q & A and an informal info booth gallery staffed by representatives from various community organizations.
Featured speakers will include:
- Beth Schmidt, family peer support specialist from the Maryland Coalition of Families, which helps families who care for someone with behavioral health needs;
- Gary Freeman, minister of youth at Bethany Church;
- Joan Webb Scormaienchi, executive director of HC DrugFree, which provides resources and education on prevention, treatment, recovery, health and wellness to help Howard County residents develop knowledge and skills to understand and address behavioral health (substance use and mental health) disorders; and
- Mark Donovan, LCPC, LCADC, who serves at Congruent Counseling Services, which offers mental health and substance abuse care for adults, teens and children in offices throughout Maryland, and Integrative Counseling, which is a State of Maryland Certified Substance Treatment Facility, offering a broad range of educational and treatment services for adults and teens.
