COLUMBIA, Md—Bethany Church, Columbia, will host the state “Bible Bee” competition on August 23 followed by a community fair.
The Bible bee will feature school-aged contestants competing in oral and written tests covering Bible memory verses and passages. Winners have the opportunity to advance to the national level where they can win part of a $260,000 prize fund.
In the afternoon, from noon to 3 pm, the church will host its second annual community fair with food, local vendors, children’s games and prizes, live music, three moon bounces, balloons, karate demonstrations by Harriday’s Karate and even a visit from the Chick-fil-A cow.
In preparation for the fair, the church’s outreach team has been practicing evangelism strategies including using the North American Mission Board’s Three Circles Life Conversation evangelism technique. The church’s youth will also do a card trick evangelistic presentation.
Church members will also have prayer tables where visitors can share prayer requests.
This is one of the church’s biggest outreach events. Members are praying that the event will allow them to meet more people in the local community, help members to grow spiritually and to ultimately share the Gospel of Jesus.
