ARNOLD, Md.—Church members at Redemption Church, Arnold, are collecting supplies to fill chemotherapy bags for children as a community outreach.

Redemption Church members are collecting supplies for chemo bags for children undergoing chemotherapy.

“Our Redemption Kids team wanted to do a ‘kid-minded’ missions project with our Kindergarten through 5th graders,” Redemption Church Member Sue Ferris explained. “I had chemotherapy on my mind, since my daughter just shared with me about her friend and neighbor who has been battling breast cancer for the last year. I googled ‘chemo care’ and found some great ideas and info on how to put together chemo care bags. I thought it would be great for our kids to put together bags for kids (kids helping kids).”

Beginning July 23, the children will begin learning about the fruits of the Spirit from Galatians, and they’ll make the chemo bags in conjunction with their studies.

The church family will collect supplies through July and August and the children will decorate and assemble the bags. Later, church members will deliver the bags to local hospitals.

Some of the items include water bottles, lip balms, blank journals and pens and pencils, coloring books and crayons, small blankets or shawls, and children’s books.
