UPPER MARLBORO, Md.—Kettering Baptist Church will host their annual children’s leaders, youth leaders and volunteers conference, “How to Be Effective in Children and Youth Ministry,” from 8 am to 3 pm on Feb. 20 at their church building, 1 Kettering Dr., Upper Marlboro. The popular event draws leaders from as far away as Charleston, West Virginia.
This year’s conference includes such topics as “Ministering to Wonderfully Made Children,” designed to help churches integrate children and youth with special needs into regular classroom sessions and other church activities.
There’s also a session on how to have a successful youth ministry with and without a budget or a facility, teaching the Bible using fun illustrated methods, maintaining an ongoing personal relationship with Christ while leading others, and developing vision and purpose.
A representative from LifeWay Christian Resources will lead a session on curriculum. “A lot of churches don’t know what’s out there and which is the best one for their church. This will give them a broad overview of all the different types, what is the most popular, and how they all work,” said Colin Pugh II, pastor of youth and administration.
Early registration, before Feb. 12 is $25 per person. After that time, the cost is $35. The fee covers a continental breakfast and lunch. For more information contact Colin Pugh. Register online.
