Disaster Relief Basic Training

Introduction to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (12:30 AM—2:30 PM)
Required for all new volunteers. This class will give an overview of the work of Disaster Relief and ministry with disaster survivors. We will also cover what to expect on a disaster response, what to bring, etc.
Recovery Team (9:30 AM—11:30 PM)
This class will overview the work of the recovery team: flood recovery, chainsaw and temporary repairs with emphasis given to
safety. The primary area of focus will be flood recovery. Although this is a physical ministry, many recovery tasks in the field do not require great physical strength.
Feeding Team (9:30 AM—11:30 PM)
In this class you will learn the processes that are followed in preparing, serving and cleaning up meals served out of a mobile
kitchen or church kitchen. Emphasis will be placed on food safety. The class will prepare and serve lunch as if this were an
actual disaster response.
*While registering, please indicate which classes you would like to take. New volunteers are required to complete two classes—one of which must be Introduction to Disaster Relief–in order to receive their badges.
