Implicit Gospel: When We Hide the Gospel in Our Ministries

We want to be faithful to Christ and our calling as kids leaders. We want our kids to hear the gospel, know the gospel, and believe the gospel. But are we positioning our ministries to show our kids the beauty of the gospel? Or are we leading ministries where the gospel is implicit, rather than being explicit, in all we do?

Dr. Brian Dembowczyk, managing editor of LifeWay Christian Resources’ Gospel Project and author of Gospel-Centered Kids Ministry, has been a pastor for over 15 years at churches in Florida, Maryland, and Kentucky. He has served in a variety of roles including senior pastor, discipleship pastor, executive pastor, and student & family pastor.

Brian earned an M.Div. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, Kentucky) and a D.Min. from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (New Orleans, Louisiana).

Brian and his wife, Tara, have three children: Joshua, Hannah, and Caleb. In his spare time, Brian enjoys reading, cooking, and drinking coffee.

Gospel-Centered Kids' Ministry

Brian Dembowczyk, Lifeway Christian Resources
How the Gospel Will Transform Your Kids, Your Church, Your Community, and the World: The gospel is to be foundational in all we do in our kids’ ministries, but that is often easier said than done. We need to be proactive, roll up our sleeves, and do the harder work of creating and maintaining a gospel-centered kids’ ministry. In this breakout, we will consider how we can lead gospel-saturated kids’ ministries where the gospel informs all that is taught, where we pursue gospel-transformation rather than behavior modification, and where we are sending our kids out to live on mission for Christ. Attention will be given to how The Gospel Project for Kids curriculum is designed to be a resource to help in all of these areas.

Don’t be Scared, Be Prepared

Jamie Pruett, Baltimore County School Resource Officer

How to be Prepared to Reach Families with Special Needs in Your Community

Tommy Rowe, Church Planter at The Gathering Place
Statistics tell us that 10% – 15% of those in your community face some type of disability. Most churches are not doing a good job to reach these families and if they do happen to come through our doors, we don’t feel prepared to handle it. This breakout will give you some basics on expanding your ministry to be inclusive of families with special needs concerns.

What is the Bible to You?

Susan Kitchin, Children’s Ministry Team Leader at Renovate Life
As children grow into adulthood their childhood faith must mature too. If not, as adults they may not be able to experience God in their daily lives causing a crisis of faith. How do we equip children to grow in faith? Helping them understand the purpose of the Bible is key. Let’s discuss how the Bible is viewed among believers and how that viewpoint can either grow our faith or not.

Gospel-Centered Preschoolers

Christ-Centered Parenting

David and Katie Barrett, Pastor / Wife to Children, Families, and Outreach at Weems Creek Baptist
So you’re thinking about how to equip and inspire parents in your church to build faith in their children. A good way to think about this process would be a “give them a fish or teach them how to fish” picture. Parents are probably receiving some fish on Sundays at your church and that is a good thing. However, our overarching goal as Children’s Ministry leaders should be to teach them how to fish by continually coming back to the Gospel pond that is stocked with the riches of God’s wisdom. Come see what a Christ-Centered framework for parenting looks like in this session.

Leading Kids to Christ
