PARSONSBURG — The Rev. Dr. Franklin A. Perry, 86, of Parsonsburg died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Perry served as pastor for 36 years at First Baptist Church in Laurel, Md., pastorates in New Jersey, and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After retirement, he spent 1990-91 in Gweru, Zimbabwe, teaching at Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Perry served in the ministry in many different capacities for more than 60 years. He was past president of the Maryland/Delaware Baptist Convention and a past board member of the Radio and Television Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Most recently, he attended Allen Memorial Baptist Church, where he was pastor to Senior Adults. He enjoyed walking, playing golf, and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eunice R. Perry; four children, Timothy P. Perry and his wife, Martha Joanne, of Holly Springs, N.C., Martha P. Morgan and her husband, Quinn, of Parsonsburg, Franklin Mark Perry and his wife, Linda Karen, of East New Market, and Joanne P. Larson and her husband, Stephen, of Harrogate, England; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence E. Perry and his wife, Helen, of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of pastor Perry’s life will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Allen Memorial Baptist Church in Salisbury. The Rev. Dr. William L. Warren will officiate. Interment will be private.
