North Carolina Hurricane Rebuild

Hurricane Florence is the most devastating natural disaster that North Carolina has ever experienced (over 100,000 homes affected).  So far, over 4700 recovery jobs have been completed. We are doing home rebuilds through the FEMA STEP program. You do not need to be trained to help! We are so thankful for those who have come to help us!

This disaster is so big that it will require a long term rebuild response to help get many people back in their homes. We are setting up three different rebuild center sites where we can house and feed many volunteers who will be working on homes. We plan to manage the rebuilding of homes from these “rebuilding hubs”. This will be a long term response that will take 2-3 years and require thousands of volunteers to help get many people back in their homes.

When registering for a rebuild site, please make sure at least one person has basic construction skills. Here is a video for the rebuild program: STEP REBUILD

Youth groups are able to help in the recovery process. Please make sure you have a ratio of 1 adult for every 3 youth. Youth must have to be in 6th grade and older. Information about background checks, parental waivers, etc. will be found in the packet of information you receive when you are assigned to a site.
