Almost 800 million people around the world live with constant hunger, and 1 in 6 in North America are undernourished. Seven Southern Baptist organizations have partnered together to see lives and communities changed forever through Global Hunger Relief. Through this unique partnership, 100 percent of your donations go toward hunger needs. Nothing is taken out for administrative or promotional costs.

On October 14, 2018, many churches around the country will host a Global Hunger Sunday (GHS) to inform and equip church leaders to emphasize this global crisis and lead their congregations to give to meet these critical needs in their local community and beyond. A coordinated set of resources, both in dated and undated versions, are available for churches at globalhungerrelief.com/sunday. Most are free with a few items available for purchase through our partners. They include:

  • A GHS poster;
  • A GHS digital slider;
  • A GHS bulletin insert (dated and undated) featuring a story of a community rescued through food provided by Global Hunger Relief;
  • Small group curriculum;
  • 2018 Global Hunger Relief annual report;
  • children’s activities and more.

GHR partners include Baptist Global Response (BGR), the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission (ERLC), the Executive Committee, the International Mission Board (IMB), LifeWay Christian Resources, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the Woman’s Missionary Union. Projects supported by GHR are implemented through the work and ministries of BGR, IMB and NAMB.

As part of the effort, LifeWay Christian Stores will feature Global Hunger Relief this month during its Fall Family Fun Day in stores across the nation, ERLC reported.

LifeWay Stores will have special one-day offers for customers, along with snacks and a fun activity for kids Oct. 22. The first 25 families to arrive will also receive a special gift. To spotlight the mission of Global Hunger Relief, stores will also host a nation-wide canned food drive, and donations will be given to local food banks, ministries and missions.
