MIDDLETOWN, Md. — Though camps are canceled and the kitchen closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, Skycroft Conference Center in Middletown, Maryland, is offering a great deal for those missing the camp’s popular home-cooked offerings.
The staff had a trial run of a “Heat and Eat” fundraiser on Father’s Day weekend. Skycroft Director Emily Reedy was pleased with the response, reporting that staff distributed 140 bags of food, each with enough goodies to please a family of four.
Piggybacking on that success, they’ll do another “Heat and Eat” on July 10 and 11, offering four options:
- Hickory-smoked brisket with hickory barbecue on the side, mac n’ cheese, summer broccoli salad, coleslaw, and dinner rolls with cinnamon butter
- Slow-smoked pulled pork with buns and hickory barbecue sauce on the side, mac n’ cheese, summer broccoli salad, and coleslaw
- Classic chicken pot pie served with garlic roasted broccoli and dinner rolls with cinnamon butter
- Tender pork loin in a black pepper sauce, with mac n’ cheese, garlic roasted broccoli and dinner rolls with cinnamon butter on the side
Prices range from $25-$45 and all packages include a homemade peach cobbler.
Additionally, fresh summer corn chowder is available for $7 per quart.
The deadline for ordering online is 4 p.m. on July 7. You may also contribute additional funds to the ministry on the order page.
Please also note that Skycroft is now offering day visits and overnight stays with accommodations for groups larger than ten, with certain restrictions. Conference spaces are now open at 50 percent capacity. The pool is also open with a 25-person limit.
Purchasing “Heat and Eat” bags, and booking visits are ways to support and sustain Skycroft ‘s ministry through months of vacancy due to COVID-19. Read more about activities and updates at Skycroft.
