SILVER SPRING, Md—Embrace Silver Spring, a partnership of the Montgomery Baptist Association and the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, will sponsor an immigration/sex trafficking awareness conference from 10 am to 2:30 pm on June 28 at Viers Mill Baptist Church.
The purpose of the conference is to bring awareness to local churches about immigration, sex trafficking and modern day slavery, and how churches can compassionately respond to these issues.
Registration begins at 9:30 am and light refreshments will be available.
Keynote speakers will be Natasha Lester, a management and program analyst for the Department of Homeland Security Office of Citizenship/Immigration Services; Mandy Porter, coordinator with Faith Alliance Against Slavery/Trafficking (FAAST); and Nathan Lundgren, new site specialist with World Relief, an organization committed to equipping local churches with the resources necessary to minister to the sick, the widows and orphans, immigrants and those marginalized by society.
Session topics include:

• Taking the next Step—Moving Towards Citizenship
• Human Trafficking—A Modern Day Slavery Problem
• A Call to Action—Immigration and You
