CURTIS BAY, Md—Volunteers at Inner Harbor Ministry (IHM) served dinners to over 160 people on Thanksgiving Day at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Pennington Avenue in Curtis Bay.
IHM Director Elwood Ulmer said volunteers, more than ever, made and served turkey dinners and gave away groceries, new hats, gloves, socks, underclothes and blankets. They also provided used clothing and health kits.
Each Thursday Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network churches provide dinners at the Lutheran Church. Over 100 people attend. Ulmer leads a time of Bible study prior to the meal.
Since Christmas evening falls on a Thursday, the ministry will provide a Christmas dinner. This year it will be catered by Arbutus Town Hall Catering with the help of a local Girl Scout Troop. Each guest will receive a wrapped present.
Ulmer said churches and groups are needed to cook meals to feed 100 people, especially for the first and fourth Thursdays of the month.
