Arundel Baptist Association (ABA)
The Arundel Baptist Association took its sixth consecutive annual New Orleans “Rebuild Trip” April 20-27. The team painted rooms and outside doors and trim while serving First Baptist Church of Gretna (FBCG), La. Pastor Jody Heneghan and his wife, Jennie, offer leadership to the congregation that continues to grow since Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Doug Baughan, Lake Shore Baptist youth minister, gave a testimony at the Sunday worship service at FBCG, while ABA Director of Missions John Brittain played Heneghan’s guitar in the band. The team also volunteered with Lagniappe Ministries, led by Cherry and Ben Blackwell, which provides ministry to and shares the Gospel with those in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The ABA is committed to sending volunteers to help rebuild New Orleans for a total of ten years. Next year’s trip is scheduled for April 19-26, 2013.

Bethel Baptist Church (MMBA)
Bethel Baptist Church, Ellicott City, is celebrating Rev. Jimmy Jackson’s 60th year in ministry with a special recognition service on July 8 at 10:30 am.

Cumberland Community Church (WBA)
Cumberland Community Church has been continually growing. They are purchasing property adjacent to the church so they can expand their children’s and youth ministries in the existing building.

El Bethel Baptist Church (PGBA)
El Bethel Baptist Church, Fort Washington, has lots of missions activities planned this year. Volunteers will minister at Northside Baptist Association in Clarksdale, Miss., at Nicole’s Place, in Louisville, Ky., and also in Anchorage, Aka., doing Vacation Bible School in all three locations. They’ll do evangelism and witnessing with St. Paul Baptist Church, in Louisville, Ky., in July. In October the church will send representatives to Guyana to provide leadership and evangelism training.

Faith Baptist Church, Glen Burnie (ABA)
Faith Baptist Church, Glen Burnie, will have a God and Country Day Celebration with choir and orchestra at Downs Park, Pasadena from 6-7:30 p.m. on June 2.

First Baptist Church of Welcome and Nanjemoy Baptist Church (PBA)
Six members from First Baptist Church of Welcome and Nanjemoy Baptist Church ministered for eight nights in Ghana. The team preached in night crusades at local churches. They also provided funding for 58 children to attend school.

Friendship Baptist Church, Sykesville (MMBA)
Ladies from Friendship Baptist Church, Sykesville, have a prayer shawl ministry. They give them to those who are experience chronic or acute illness or recovering from surgery.

Hopeful Baptist Church (BRBA)
Maugansville Baptist Church changed its name and address. The church is now Hopeful Baptist Church and they meet at Van Lear Brethren In-Christ Church in Williamsport.

Iron Hill Baptist Church (DBA)
Iron Hill Baptist Church will have their annual Father’s Day Car Show on June 17 from noon to 4 p.m., sponsored by the Cruizers for Christ Christian Car Club.

Mid-Maryland Baptist Association (MMBA)
[Correction] Mid-Maryland Baptist Association will have its annual associational golf tournament on Oct. 15 at Hobbit’s Glen in Columbia. Riva Trace Baptist Church (ABA)
Riva Trace will host a live satellite broadcast of Willow Creek’s annual Global Leadership Summit on Aug. 9-10.

“Before I went into full-time ministry in 2000 I spent 20 years in the marketplace and attended many conferences and trainings. This is on par with, if not better, than anything I’ve ever participated in,” said Keith Hammer. Hammer is the executive pastor of Riva Trace Baptist Church, and he serves on Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware’s leadership development and support team.

Speakers for the summit include pastors and leaders from several spheres including Bill Hybels, founding pastor of Willow Creek Community Church; Condoleezza Rice, Past Secretary of State; Jim Collins, Business Consultant; and John Ortberg, author and senior pastor of Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.

The registration deadlines are: early bird June 26; and regular priced after June 2. Participants can register at www.willowcreek.com/summit by selecting the Riva Trace Baptist Church host site location.

Sharon Bible Fellowship Church, Lanham, recently celebrated the church’s 14th anniversary and their pastor, Victor O. Kirk, Sr.’s eighth anniversary with a weekend celebration featuring a special family fun and games day.

Western Association Director of Missions Kenny Heath was elected vice-president of Missions/Associational Missionaries for the Bivocational & Small Church Leadership Network (formerly the SBC Bivocational Ministers Association).
