KENSINGTON, Md—Kensington Baptist Church will present their final concert of the 2013-2014 season, “Listen Local,” at 3 pm on July 12 at the church. The concert will feature the works of local composers.

Featured selections include music from Jonathan Cohen; Perry Conticchio’s “Suite for a Singer Girl,” for woodwinds, double bass and mallet percussion; Winifred Hyson’s “Rokudan” for clarinet and koto; Kurt Stern’s “Visions,” for flute, clarinet and piano; An-Ming Wang’s “The Peony, Fantasy on Sakura,” for flute and piano.

Flautist Amy Thomas is the founder and coordinator for the Kensington Concerts series. The church usually hosts four concerts each year featuring a variety of ensembles. Thomas said she is hoping to offer six concerts for the 2014-2015 season that will begin in October.

A light reception follows the concerts.

The concerts are free but donations are accepted.
