CHARLESTON, S.C.–Kevin Smith, executive director of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware, will headline the 2018 Southeast Region Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) meeting at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C. on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24, 2018. The theme for the conference is “Evangelical Scholarship’s Role in Christian Unity.”

Founded in 1949, the Evangelical Theological Society is a group of scholars, teachers, pastors, students, and others dedicated to the oral exchange and written expression of theological thought and research. The ETS is devoted to the inerrancy and inspiration of the Scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Full members of ETS, Ph.D. students, and Th.M. students were invited to submit papers on the conference theme to be submitted for consideration for presentation at the meeting. Submission of papers on other topics were encouraged as well.

M.Div., M.A., and B.A./B.S. students also were able to submit their full paper, along with a written endorsement by a professor who has read the paper, for consideration.

The Society publishes a quarterly journal, the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society (JETS), an academic periodical featuring peer reviewed articles, as well as extended book reviews, in the biblical and theological disciplines.  Dr. Andreas Köstenberger, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, now serves as the editor.

ETS also holds national and regional meetings across the United States and in Canada.
