SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware sponsored language music celebration will be on April 9 from 5 to 8:30 pm at Global Mission Church.

“This is one day our convention can see and taste heaven as we come together—all peoples, languages and cultures,” said BCM/D Church Multiplication Strategist Michael Mattar.

During the celebration, international churches throughout the convention represent their cultures in song and dress as they worship Jesus. Afterwards, they gather for a big, multi-ethnic meal prepared by the various churches.

Mattar hopes to be able to assemble a multicultural band to open the celebration.

He acknowledges Palm Sunday is long and busy for most churches, but he said taking part in the celebration is rewarding.

“The reason we host it on Palm Sunday is that as we see the crowd celebrate Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, we too come together to celebrate Jesus’ entry into our hearts,” he said.

This annual celebration has continued for over a decade at Global Mission Church and Mattar said he is very appreciative of the church and their leadership for hosting host the event.

BCM/D Executive Director Kevin Smith will share a message, and Montgomery Baptist Association Director of Missions Ron Blankenship, along with Jacob Shin and Robert Kim, who have both worked with the celebration for years, will also participate.

There is no charge and all are welcome.
