COLUMBIA, Md.—Get ready to go “In The Wild” for this summer’s Vacation Bible School (VBS). That’s the 2019 theme and it’s focused on John 20:31, “But these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name.”

.

LifeWay’s website says that students are encouraged to, “Throw on your camera strap and buckle your seatbelt!” This VBS takes kids on an adventure they’ll never forget with elephants, polar bears, penguins, and crocodiles. As they search for the animals, they’ll study, and, hopefully, have some real encounters with Jesus

To help churches prepare for a successful VBS, the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D) has annual VBS Expo/Celebrations allowing leaders and volunteers to experience the excitement and fun for themselves, hearing the stories, preparing and eating the snacks, singing the songs and making the crafts.

Sixteen volunteers are leading the events through the expos.

“It’s like re-enacting a typical VBS day,” BCM/D Children’s Ministry Consultant June Holland explained. “Everyone has a lot of fun.”

Below is the upcoming Expo schedule:

Each of the above expos is from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes Chick-Fil-A lunches for each registered participant. There will also be a LifeWay bookstore onsite.

The cost for the above expos is $10. Register online.

  • April 26 — First English Baptist Church, of Frostburg, Md., 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Soup and salad will be provided. There is no charge. Registration is not required.

Holland said the expos are strategically planned to make it easier for churches in each association to participate.
