The Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) 2021 Annual Meeting is in the history books, but the work of the SBC continues and several Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D) leaders are serving in key roles.
Executive Committee
BCM/D President Dr. Harold Phillips is serving as a state representative on the SBC Executive Committee. Phillips, the pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit, Maryland, will work with other committee members to conduct the denomination’s business when the SBC is not in session — the SBC’s annual meeting.

Phillips joins 85 other state representatives who act on behalf of the SBC. According to SBC.net, “Although the Executive Committee does not control or direct the activities of Convention agencies, it reviews their financial statements and recommends the Convention annual operating budget. In addition, it receives and distributes the monies Southern Baptists give in support of denominational ministries, acts as the recipient and trust agency for all Convention properties, and provides public relations and news services.
“The Executive Committee also performs other tasks assigned by the SBC, and promotes the general work of Southern Baptists. To carry out these duties, the Committee employs an executive and professional staff in its Nashville offices.”

Trustees
Other Maryland/Delaware leaders are serving as trustees with SBC entities. Trustees provide oversight, accountability, and encouragement for the entities’ leadership and resources,
Randall Blackmon, the pastor of Faith Baptist Fellowship Church in Cambridge, Maryland, was nominated for a second term serving as a trustee of GuideStone, which serves churches in the areas of financial services and insurance solutions. He will work with the audit committee.
Warren Aldridge, a member of Temple Hills Baptist Church in Maryland, will serve as a North American Mission Board trustee.
Stephanie Greer serves on staff of The Garden Church in Baltimore as a life coach and as BCM/D recording secretary. Greer was elected to serve as a trustee of LifeWay.
Lennox Graham, a member of Colonial Baptist Church in Randallstown, Maryland, will serve as a trustee for the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.
Mark Trammell, a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Maryland, will serve a second term as a trustee for Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary
William Behrens and Scott Vander Hamm, both members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., will serve as a trustees for Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
