Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come,” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (HSCB)

Send Relief Podcast features Haven City Church

SEND Relief’s “Stories of Hope” podcast recently featured the story of Haven City Church, in Fells Point, Md., and a member named Albert. On Nov. 21, 2017, Albert walked out of prison a free man after serving 48 years. His sister took him to the Compassion Center in Fells Point.

.

Josh Turansky, the pastor of Haven City Church, manages the center along with other church members in exchange for use of the building. While Albert was getting free clothes he met Turansky. “We got talking, and we hit it off,” Turansky said.

Albert returned to lend a hand — cleaning up and helping with the food. Eventually, Albert attended a Haven City Church worship service. “The first time I heard one of his (Turansky’s) sermons I was uplifted. I have learned Jesus is The Way and there is no other way except for Him, and He is The Way I am going to go.” Listen to this incredible story on SEND Relief.

Re-enactment of Last Supper

Members of First Baptist Church of North East (FBCNE) in Md. will host their annual re-enactment of the Lord’s Last Supper at 7 pm on April 13 and on April 14 at the 8:30 am and 10:30 am services, with breakfast served between performances.

The church will also have a month-long baby shower for the Cecil County Pregnancy Center. Members will collect new baby clothes, toiletries, diapers, and other such items from April 7 through Mother’s Day. They will have a special dedication on May 12 (Mother’s Day) for all of the donated gifts.

Prom Dress Ministry

Ashton Baptist Church, partnering with Dressed in Love Ministries, collects prom dresses and other accessories to distribute to teens for free. As girls come to “shop” for dresses, often with their mothers, volunteers have opportunities to get to know them, build friendships, and eventually share Christ. Dresses can be donated from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, or from 9 am to noon on Sundays. Dresses should be dry cleaned if possible before donating. For more information email Jennifer Williams.

Summer Missionaries Needed

ONE HOPE, a church planting ministry of The Garden Church in Baltimore and beyond, seeks two summer missionaries to pour into neighborhood youth, reach out to adults, and seek to promote the Gospel,” said Joel Kurz, pastor of The Garden Church.

“Inner city churches are usually under-resourced, and there is often a major emphasis on serving the poor through church ministries, but not making disciples of the poor,” Kurz explained. “There’s a difference.

“The reality is that many people serve the poor. We want to make disciples of the poor. We want to be a church that raises and builds people from the community for the urban church.” Email the church office for more information.
