
Summer is quickly coming to an end and school starts soon! Churches are busy preparing for fall, giving away school supplies and having back-to-school events—opportunities to reach out and love their neighbors in an effort to eventually share the Good News! Read about these and other happenings in Maryland/Delaware churches.

Ocean City Baptist Church has baptized 15 people in the ocean this summer, and they have five more waiting to be baptized at the end of summer.

Sean Davis says there’s something special about being baptized in the ocean.
Sean Davis, pastor, said throughout the year as people make decisions of faith and are taking the step of obedience in baptism, they are counseled and supported and the baptisms are scheduled during the summer months.
Davis said in years past they’ve baptized visitors, and international students, but this year its locals who are taking that step.
The church also is gearing up for their upcoming Upward Soccer program this fall.
The Village Church, Baltimore, will have a “Back to School Bash!” for kids in grades 3-8 on Sept. 7 with food, dodgeball, and water games.

The Dunns will be in concert at First Baptist Church of Girdletree on Sept. 28.
First Baptist Church, Girdletree, will welcome the music group, “The Dunns,” in concert at 6:30 pm on Sept. 23. The music trio is composed of Dwayne and Martha Dunn, and Jerry Zollars, all members of Pinecrest Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Va. Dwayne is from Norfolk, Va., and sang with the Londonaires Quartet as their baritone. Martha, raised in Portsmouth, met Dwayne when she joined the Londonaires Quartet as their pianist. The two married in 1986. and have a passion for sharing Christ through music. Zollars joined the couple in 2012. They travel and share up and down the East Coast throughout the year. Haven City Church, a small church plant in Baltimore, has a partnership with City Spring School. Last year the church was able to take a large group of students to the movies. Recently, they decided to do a school supply giveaway and God showed up in a big way. Eight hundred backpacks were donated to the church. They’re working hard now to fill those backpacks!

The MD/DE Korean Baptist Association in partnership with Virginia Korean Baptists hosted their annual youth retreat ministering to youth and college students from churches all over Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV).
Recently, the MD/DE Korean Baptist Association in partnership with the Virginia Korean Baptists hosted their annual youth retreat ministering to youth and college students from churches all over Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV). James Choi, BCM/D church planting catalyst, shared God’s Word on the topic, “Image of God.” Pastor Nathan Lee of FBC, Laurel, directed the retreat.
Choi’s topics included: “Imago Dei: What does it mean to be created in God’s image?;” “Male and Female: What does it mean to be created male and female?;” “The Fallen and the Redeemed: What does it mean to be a redeemed sinner?;” “Biblical Theology of Gender;” “New Community: What is our corporate identity?;” “A Church Member: What does it mean to be a healthy church member?;” and “What is God’s Will for My Life?”.
North Baptist Church, Wilmington, has a Wednesday evening children’s “F.R.O.G.S.” (Forgive, Respect, Obey, Give Thanks, Serve) Club. Kids enjoy movies, games, and fun while learning about Jesus.
