Retirement
Clarence Byerly will retire from Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie, Maryland, effective Aug. 31. Byerly has served as pastor of discipleship and administration for over 14 years. Previously he was the senior pastor of Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Clarksville, Maryland.

Byerly grew up in Virginia and pastored Singers Glen Baptist Church in Virginia, Beulah Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia, and County Line Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Virginia, before moving to Maryland.
He and his wife, Dianne, have enjoyed their time at FBC. “It has been a good Bible-believing congregation,” Clarence said. “They always have so much going on —Upward, Awana, so many things —it requires a tremendous amount of work. They are strong and work hard.”
Clarence and Dianne have moved to New Freedom, Pennsylvania, just across the Maryland line. Clarence will be available for interim and pulpit supply to churches in northern Maryland and southern Pennsylvania.
Over 20 saved on “Back to School Day”
Christian Liberty Church in Baltimore, had a “Back to School Day,” on August 18. During an outside worship service, twenty-one people responded to an altar call and made professions of faith in Jesus.
Over 500 people attended the event. Throughout the day, the church had children’s games, face painting, music, and free food. Church members also gave away 450 backpacks filled with school supplies.
Homecoming Celebration
Downin Lane, a Southern Gospel group from Port Deposit, will be in concert at Northpoint Baptist Church’s 62nd Homecoming Celebration.
North Point Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland, will have their annual homecoming celebration on Sept. 8. The Southern Gospel group, “Downin Lane,” from Port Deposit, Maryland, will share during the 11 a.m. worship service.
Chuck Boyd, Matt Stewart, Matthew Stewart (father and son), and David England, met at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Port Deposit, Maryland, and formed the group in 2015. For their name, they used the address of PVBC — 150 Downin Lane. In addition to Southern Gospel, the men enjoy singing acapella.
Following the worship service, NPBC members will enjoy fellowship over a covered dish dinner. Members will share memories of their 62 years as a church and will look to the future. Pastor Danny Keever said all are welcome to join the celebration.
