Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
White Marsh Baptist Church, in Perry Hall, Maryland, honored teachers at a nearby school with their annual end-of-the-year cookout. For over ten years, the church has grilled hot dog and burgers and provided side dishes and snacks for teachers and school staff.
As they have the opportunity, the school staffers take a break, grab some lunch and chat with volunteers, who provide encouragement and share their appreciation for what the teachers and staff do for the children and community.
The cookout is part of an ongoing relationship the church has developed with the school.
Music Ministers honored for gold and silver anniversaries
On June 2, 2019, Viers Mill Baptist Church (VMBC), in Silver Spring, Maryland, honored two members for their music ministry through the decades.
Pastor Robert Wilson presented plaques of recognition to Sue Tillery and Sandy Hayslett. Tillery has served as the church’s music minister for 25 years and Sandy is celebrating her 50th year as the church’s organist.
The church had a luncheon for the ladies following the service. Others shared words of appreciation and gifts to the ladies.
Sports Camp and Family Ministry
Immanuel Baptist Church in Rosedale, Maryland, kicks off their free “Fundamentals” Mega Sports Camp from June 9-13, offering basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, and soccer. There are still openings.
The church recently changed their children’s ministry strategy. They added a 9:30 a.m. worship service, along with a variety of small groups and including a fun family group.
“The Treehouse” is a fast-paced, fun-filled class for kids in kindergarten through fifth
grade and their parents or guardians. Together, families hear Bible studies, worship, play games, and enjoy drama. In addition to encouraging families to be together, the parents also become aware of what the children are learning.
Other adults can choose to attend the earlier worship service, or one of several small groups including, “Explore the Bible,” a current events group, and a ladies class.
During the second worship service at 10:45 a.m., the kids go to their small groups for more in-depth study, and the parents can attend worship.
