Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is your name throughout the earth!” Psalm 8:1

Community Outreach

Barnesville Baptist Church (BBC) in Barnesville, Maryland, has developed a ministry with a local health rehabilitation center. Many of the church members have spent time at this center during extended illnesses.

The church leads music with a short devotional twice a month, but the most significant impact is the one-to-one ministry, according to BBC Pastor Danny Moore.

“We’ve built a great relationship with the center,” Moore says. “We get to go and pray with people in the rooms. They’ll also call us if someone is not doing well.” Recently, a patient asked for prayer for her son, who was dying of cancer. Moore said it was wonderful for this woman to have a chance to share her concerns.

BBA Youth Event

Middle and high school youth groups in Baltimore Baptist Association churches will join together on November 22 at Middle River Baptist Church in Baltimore. The evening will include games, prizes, food and a chance to hear the Gospel.

The event is the kick-off for quarterly events as the association desires to promote fellowship among churches and their youth.

Breakfast With Santa

Bethany Lane Baptist Church in Ellicott City, Maryland, will host “Breakfast With Santa” from 9 to 11 a.m. on November 23.

After enjoying a pancake breakfast, kids can play games, make crafts, and get their photos with Santa. Pre-register and get tickets for $10 or buy them at the door for $12.

The church will use the event to meet neighbors, tell them about Jesus, and provide information about the church.

In 1836, after the first meeting of the Maryland Baptist Union Association, a letter to the churches stated the reason for the organization. “… It is not that we may have dominion over your faith, but be helpers of your joy. Our sincere desire is that we may be one in purpose … united in a cordial and energetic cooperation for the advancement of His (Christ’s) blessed cause.” The letter goes on to state, “… we wish to base all our plans and purpose, and exertions, on the simple truth of God, as revealed in the Bible, and on that alone.”
