Rick Hancock-72

Rev. Rick Hancock

Rick Hancock, pastor of Dunkirk Baptist Church, was elected Mid-Maryland Baptist Association’s director of missions effective August 1, 2015.  Hancock succeeds Joel Rainey, who now serves as Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network’s Team Strategist, Evangelism & Missions Engagement.

Hancock will lead the association in their goals of assisting and strengthening the ministries of the 64 churches; cultivating fellowship among pastors and staff and equipping the churches and networking the association in local, regional and global missions.

Hancock said the churches in the association have done “amazing things,” with their missions work locally and internationally including ministries in New York, Mexico, India and many other locations. “We’ll look at opportunities where churches are working around the corner and around the world,” he said.

He has served as senior pastor of Dunkirk Baptist Church since 2004 and he previously pastored Southern Calvert Baptist Church, Lusby, as well as serving as a youth activities coordinator at Landover Hills Baptist Church. He also ministered with churches in Tennessee and Mississippi.

Hancock also served on the Mid-Atlantic Baptist Network staff as evangelism missionary and was the Network’s youngest president. On an associational level, he served as the Potomac Baptist Association’s pastor’s conference president as well as on the mission development, church planting and personnel search teams.

Hancock received his Master of Divinity Degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary and is now in the process of completing his doctrinal dissertation.

He and his wife Lisa have four children, Kelsie, Emily, Faith and Joshua.
