Wendy Mindte, BCM/D Missionary for Ministry Evangelism

By Sharon Mager, BCM/D Correspondent

CLARKSBURG, Md.—Wendy Mindte, BCM/D’s new missionary for ministry evangelism, says she’s exactly where she’s supposed to be.

“My main objective is to make sure churches are reaching their full impact in their communities,” Mindte explained, especially in the areas of poverty ministry and English as a Second Language (ESL).

Mindte will be working with Ellen Udovich, team strategist for Acts 1:8 Missions/Evangelism Center, and Grace Schofield, BCM/D’s new LoveLoud missionary.

She is “home grown,” raised in a Christian home in Clarksburg, where her family attended Greenridge Baptist Church. It’s where she met her husband, Bryan, and amazingly, where they minister today. Bryan is the minister of music at Greenridge.

Wendy prayed with her mother to accept Christ into her life when she was six years old.

“My mom is a huge spiritual champion in my life,” she said. “She was my youth pastor all the way through my teens. She taught me about Jesus and God’s Word.”

Wendy acknowledges that God had His hand on her life from the time she was an infant. She was born with spinal meningitis, and doctors couldn’t tell the worried family whether she was going to live, and if she did, whether she would be blind, deaf or lame.

“During that time, God surrounded my family and me with an amazing church family who prayed for me, and they still pray for me today.” God answered prayers, and Wendy was healed with no after effects of the illness.

God gave her a passion for the hurting and the lost at a young age. At Nyack College in New York, where she majored in missiology, Wendy worked in homeless ministry and feeding the hungry.

Wendy met Bryan at Greenridge. He began attending when both of them were in high school. They were close friends, but they didn’t date until Bryan was in college and after he made a confession of faith. It amazes Wendy that God has called them back to their home church.
The couple has three boys: Reagan, Caleb and Hayden.

Churches can contact Wendy to assist in outreach ministry at wmindte@bcmd.org.
