LANHAM, Md.–Two members of New Song Bible Fellowship Church (NSBFC), Brenda Fuller and Leah May, received awards from the Baptist Ministers’ Wives and Widows Association of Washington D.C. and Vicinity, Inc. at their annual awards breakfast on April 7 at the Camelot of Upper Marlboro.

Fuller, the wife of NSBFC Pastor Bernard Fuller, was chosen for one of ten “Faithful Servant” awards for her selfless service, ministering  as a mentor and lay counselor to women in domestic violence and human trafficking; providing food for the underprivileged; counseling and teaching in missionary work in Africa, serving as a praise and worship team leader, working as church office administrator, and providing spiritual leadership with the women’s ministry, S.A.L.L.T. (Sisters Abiding in Light, Love, and Truth).

May was awarded a Cora L. Jackson Scholarship. In addition to serving in NSBFC’s youth ministry, May serves the homeless and assists elderly residents. As a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society, consistently holds a 4.0 GPA, and plays basketball. She plans to major in computer ccience at North Carolina A&T State University.

Baptist Ministers’ Wives and Widows Association of Washington, D.C., and Vicinity, Inc. exists to strengthen the bonds of friendship, to strive towards a wholesome, harmonious, sympathetic, and sisterly relationship among ministers’ wives everywhere; and to practice and uphold the great Christian principles given by Jesus.

The group is involved in a variety of community services including the support of ‘back to school’ backpacks for children in Washington, D.C., and the Stoddard Baptist Home (a home for senior citizens).
