
COLUMBIA, Md.—Claud Asbury, Jr. died on June 2 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington, N.C. He was 93.
Asbury received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University, Tennessee, and his Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. He pastored churches in Maryland, Illinois, Iowa, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
He was a member of Bethany Church, Ellicott City, for over 20 years.
Asbury was also a WWII Navy Veteran.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances and an infant son, Jimmy Wallace Asbury. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Asbury Head and husband Mike, and Barbara Asbury Breden and husband Les, and two sons, William “Bill” Asbury and Barry Steve Asbury. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm on June 9 at Bethany Church, 3030 Bethany Lane, Ellicott City. Visitation will be at 1 pm, preceding the service. Interment will be at Druid Ridge Cemetery, 7900 Park Heights Avenue.
