NEWARK, Del.–Ogletown Church will host a Crown Money Map seminar from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 1. 
The seminar incorporates Biblical principles into sound financial money management. Topics include ownership, debt, savings, giving, investing, budgeting, debt reduction and planning for the future. A $30 fee covers the cost for the seminar which includes an 85-page workbook, a continental breakfast and a box lunch.
Senior Pastor Curtis Hill personally invited over 20 local churches to participate and over half responded favorably. Ogletown is providing the churches free promotional materials.
Tom Morris, who serves on the Finance Committee at Ogletown Church and regularly teaches ten-week Crown Financial studies with his wife, Kelly, said the church is excited about offering the seminar.
Morris said the one-day seminar is ideal for people who struggle with committing to a ten-week class.
“People may assume that that a one day seminar is a watered down version of the classes, but it’s not, it’s just a different format,” Morris explained, though he added that the ten-week sessions do provide an opportunity for small groups to bond, share and learn from each other and there is more time for digging deeper into God’s Word.
Registration has been brisk in spite of Hurricane Irene. Morris said he is especially pleased to see high school juniors and seniors, as well as college students signing up for the class. “What a great time in a persons life to commit this part of their spiritual life to Christ. Our country, our churches and our homes will be blessed as a result of it,” Morris said.
The seminar is not just for those who are financially struggling, Morris emphasized. It’s for anyone who wants to align to the Truth of God’s Word, get some new ideas and be refreshed, and it’s a great opportunity for church members to invite friends who would benefit from the program.
Morris said he and Kelly personally adhere to the Biblical principles taught in the class and have discovered God’s blessing in their lives.
“God owns it all,” Morris said. “That realization suddenly changes a person’s view of themselves as an owner to that of a of steward and ultimately their decision making processes.“
