FRIENDSVILLE, Md.—Rush Baptist Church will host “Revival in The Park” under a pavilion at Friendsville Community Park at 7 pm on Sept. 12 and 13 and at 10 am on Sept. 14.

Ann Downing

Ann Downing is one of several professional musicians providing music for Rush Baptist Church’s ‘Revival in the Park.’

Speakers include singer/songwriter Chester Gaither on Friday, John Wyrick, pastor of Rush Baptist Church and founder and front man of The John Wyrick Band on Saturday and Western Baptist Association Director of Missions Kenny Heath on Sunday. There will also be a “ladies only” service at 10 am Saturday morning at Rush Baptist with special guest, Ann Downing.

All three music leaders are professionals. Downing has had a singer/songwriting career in Gospel music for almost 50 years. She sang with The Speer Family before meeting her husband Paul and co-founding “The Downing.” She also sang with Bill and Gloria Gaither’s Homecoming television shows and was eventually inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Downing now ministers throughout the United States singing and sharing her testimony.

The John Wyrick Band is in its 16th year of “souled” out commitment to their faith and their music. The band includes Wyrick on guitar and lead vocals; Joe Arenth on drums and vocals, and Albert Munk on bass. They play a mix of southern rock, Gospel and some old time rock and roll at coffee houses, concerts, churches and a variety of other venues.

Gaither is a singer and songwriter and a Country Gospel Music Association Award Winner.

Light refreshments will be available each evening.

Pastor John Wyrick said this is the first time the church has had a revival in the park and they’re very excited to see how God will move through the worship services.
