Riva Trace Baptist Church to host ‘Iron Sharpens Iron’ Conference for men ages 13 and older

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md.—Riva Trace Baptist Church (RTBC) will host a one day national men’s conference, “Iron Sharpens Iron,” from 8:30 am to 5 pm on March 11. It’s open to men ages 13 and older.

“We hosted this conference last year for the first time and our men were so excited about it that there was no question that we wanted to host it again. It was a real boost to our men’s ministry at the church,” said RTBC Executive and Worship Bill Bloomquist, who is organizing the event.

“When churches come together like this we can be exposed to a greater number of high quality speakers and presenters than we could ever bring in for our individual church. In addition the cost is very affordable and a tremendous amount is packed into just a one day event.”

The conference will include a time of worship, fellowship, prayer, and challenge. There will be a 16 breakout sessions covering topics including faith and finances, fatherhood, leading in challenging times, marriage, male strongholds, discipleship, prayer and more. Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware Executive Director Kevin Smith will lead a session especially for pastors.

Keynote speakers will be Ron Moore, and Rod Cooper. Moore is senior pastor at The Bible Chapel. He earned a Master of Theology and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. His doctoral work focused on marriage enrichment. He has written several books including “Journey Through the Bible,” and “Ignite.”

Rod Cooper, professor of discipleship and leadership development at Gordon-Cornwell Theological Seminary served as National Education Director for Promise keepers and he was chaplain for the Houston Astros and the Houston Oilers. He has written several books including “Double Bind,” and “Journey from Isolation to Brotherhood.”
