In Memoriam-72By Sharon Mager, BaptistLIFE Correspondent

POTOMAC, Md—Patrick Purdy, pastor of Seven Locks Baptist Church, died on June 30. He is survived by his wife Amy and daughter Savannah.

Pastor Purdy grew up in Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary, Salisbury, North Carolina.

He began his ministry at Seven Locks in February and quickly became involved in Embrace Silver Spring and the Montgomery Baptist Association initiatives in an effort to reach out to his community. Purdy was very excited to begin his ministry at Seven Locks Church. “He loved the diversity,” Associate Pastor Steve McCarty said.

In his spare time, Purdy enjoyed time with his family and he loved watching Georgia Bulldogs football.

First and foremost, McCarty said, “He had a passion to see people’s lives transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

A memorial service in honor and memory of Pastor Purdy was held on July 7. A second memorial service will be held in Troutman, North Carolina, on August 2.

Cards can be sent to the church parsonage: Seven Locks Baptist Church, 11901 Seven Locks Road, Potomac, MD 20854.

Donations can be made to Agape Royal Ministries in Patrick’s memory.

Members of Seven Locks Church will meet to discuss plans for future support for the Purdy family.

The church requests prayer for the Purdy family.
