Children’s ministry safety packets available free to churches

According to The Advocacy Center, “It is estimated that one out of three girls and one out of five boys will experience some form of sexual abuse by the age of 18.”

“What this means for churches is that none can expect to be unaffected by the problem,” says June Holland, church strengthening specialist, children.

In an effort to equip churches to minister to their children in a secure environment, the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware has a free downloadable packet of safety and security information. The packet includes information about abuse, hygiene, illness protection, playground information and covers topics on security, safety and supervision.

The material is relevant and continually updated as new information becomes available. One chapter provides five pages of helpful contact information for a variety of topics—ministry, legal, health and more.

Jesus placed a high priority on Children, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these,” Matthew 19:14, NIV.

Holland says, “With that high priority placed by our Savior on children, we certainly can do no less.”
