ELLICOTT CITY, Md.—Bethany Music Center, an outreach of Bethany Church, Ellicott City, will host a “vocal workshop for the maturing singer,” at 3 pm on Jan. 15.
Clinician and professional musician, Carol Westcott, will lead the two and a half-hour workshop. Westcott, a professional musician, has taught for 27 years and her students have appeared on Broadway and on national television. Her accomplishments are extensive. She’s also a “singing voice specialist,” qualified to help those with damaged voices.
Bethany Music Minister Sherrie McKay said she developed vocal problems while on a mission trip to India. The staff at Greater Baltimore Medical Center’s voice clinic referred McKay to Westcott .
“I learned a lot. She focuses on the anatomy of the voice and has a great understanding of how to get voices to function at their best. As we age, we have vocal issues that crop up. People may not hit notes like they used to, they may fatigue earlier. Carol will also share about vocal anatomy hygiene. There are a lot of myths that have been taught over the years. Improved science has helped us understand the voice better,” said McKay.
The cost of the workshop is $25. Register online.
