Times were hard. The squeeze was on. There was enough opposition that Peter and John were brought before the authorities and told to stop preaching their message of hope in Jesus.
So what do you do? The Gospel is changing lives. You have witnessed thousands come to Christ. A great door for making disciples is open. But now you are told to stop. To continue would mean risk. There would be a price to pay. It could even cost you your life.
Peter and John responded, “We can’t stop . . .”
That was and is the right answer.
As I write this, we are less than halfway into 2012. Twenty-one church planting projects are in process. This is the most we have seen at this point in any year. If we continue on this path, this will be a record year for church planting in Maryland/Delaware.
Our collegiate evangelism strategy is gaining momentum. We have new presence on campuses and plans to expand. We are regularly receiving stories of life change as students share the Gospel with students.
The momentum is growing as we approach the launch of the Embrace Silver Spring effort joining with Montgomery and Prince George’s Baptist Associations to expand church planting and evangelism in this growing urban area next door to our nation’s capital.
God has opened a tremendous door for sharing the Gospel with
hundreds of young internationals coming to work in Ocean City. This ministry has implications here and around the world when these men and women return to their home countries having encountered new life in Jesus.
So many ministry opportunities are right before us. Peter was right. When God is stirring and moving in our midst, we “can’t stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20)
