ANNAPOLIS, Md.–While the world may tell grandparents its time to retire and relax, grandparents have an incredible opportunity to make a difference in the lives of their grandchildren and leave a lasting heritage for generations to come!
To that end, Weems Creek Baptist Church, located at 600 North Westgate Road in Annapolis, Md., will host an Intentional Christian Grandparent Conference on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to noon. This free conference, aimed at equipping Christian grandparents to become or continue to be intentional disciple makers in the lives of their grandchildren, features keynote speaker Dr. Josh Mulvihill, pastor to children and families at Grace Church, Eden Prairie in Minnesota.
Mulvihill has a Ph.D. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and also serves as the Director of Resources with the Legacy Coalition, an organization that seeks to build a coalition of ministries that champion intentional, Christ-like grandparenting. He is the author of Preparing Children for Marriage and co-creator of Roots Kids Worship.
The event will be broken up into two 75-minute teaching sessions: one will discuss current culture’s view of grandparenting vs. the biblical view of grandparenting. The other will discuss practical ways grandparents can engage in the spiritual formation of their grandchildren regardless of age. Between these two sessions, there will be resource giveaways and brief video testimonies of practical things grandparents are doing to connect with their grandkids spiritually.
Childcare will be available.
The conference is free, but register online (link) to reserve your space. For more information, contact David Barrett, pastor to children/families and outreach at Weems Creek Baptist Church at (410) 266-5527.
