SILVER SPRING, Md.—Stauros Alive! will present a concert of Christmas & Contemporary music at White Marsh Baptist Church at 6 pm on Dec. 13.
The concert is planned to be a time to relax, sing and worship. It will feature classic Christmas favorites, some with a twist, along with several contemporary songs and even an Irish jig. Some of the songs include “What Child is this?” “Peace on Earth,” “Do You Hear What I hear?” “O Holy Night,” “Hosanna,” “Majesty,” and “Your Love Never Fails.”
Stauros Alive!, led by John Burghauser, is the praise & worship ministry of Stauros Ministries, a biblically based non-profit organization established to minister to people who are addicted to alcohol and other drugs. Burghauser, was ordained into Gospel ministry at White Marsh Baptist Church and he and his wife, Peggy, teach an adult Sunday School class. John is a pastoral care Stauros minister with the Irish based organization. He and Peggy, who serves as the administrator, are missionaries, raising their own support.
Stauros Ministries works in partnership with the local church. Leaders build true, lifelong friendships and trust, and bring compassion and comfort into people’s lives, counseling, mentoring, and sharing Christ. In addition, John Burghauser teaches care skills, equipping local church leaders how to minister to those dealing with addictions and families in crisis.
The group shares several concerts and testimonies services through the year. The concerts provide an opportunity to bring awareness to the ministry, to encourage and uplift, and to honor Jesus.
A freewill offering to support the ministry will be taken during the concert.
